Three days on the old oasis road: hot springs in Bahariya, black-capped hills, and a night among the chalk with nobody else around.

This is the classic crossing of the Western Desert, done slowly and privately. You leave Cairo early on the old caravan road and have lunch with Mahmoud’s family in Bawiti, the main village of Bahariya oasis, before a warm spring at sunset.
Day two is the heart of the trip: a black-capped hill, the quartz ridge of Crystal Mountain, off-road through Agabat, and a camp set among the chalk towers of the White Desert before the light goes. Dinner is cooked on the fire; you sleep under the stars or in a tent, your choice.
On the last morning there is a sunrise walk among the formations, breakfast by the fire, and an easy drive back to your hotel by early evening.
